Tolerant examples in Byczyna - Polanowice

Byczyna is now welcoming 14 Polish immigrant families (about 60 people) from the Eastern countries like Kazachstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and Georgia.

In the former school building there are being prepared flats for these families.

The immigrants are offered:

  • a job  (for one member of each family)

  • a Polish language course

  • a school benefit for children

The survey carried out in Polanowice community proved that the majority of Polish people living in Polanowice was in favour of the repatriation of immigrants.

Byczyna has become a leader in Opolskie province in welcoming immigrants from the Eastern countries.

The first invitation was sent 10 years ago, in 2003. Over the last 10 years 60 people have come to live in Byczyna and now the community is welcoming another 60.

The project in Polanowice is well known in Poland and is an excellent example how to integrate immigrants.
